Seagate Launches its Backup Plus External Drives

Seagate announced that it has launched its Backup Plus family of external hard drives in the Middle East. Seagate Backup Plus hard drives are newly designed external storage that work interchangeably with both Windows and Apple computers and deliver new features to protect, share and save nearly every aspect of one’s digital life.

These products come loaded with the new hassle-free Seagate Dashboard software for one-click local backup making it easier than ever to eliminate excuses or apprehensions about backing up one’s most valuable digital content.

Seagate Backup Plus products are the world’s first external hard drives to provide backup for content on social networks, such as Facebook and Flickr.

Seagate Backup Plus drives are now available from electronics retailers across the region. They will be demonstrated by Seagate during GITEX Shopper at its stand ‘SSA-26 in Sheikh Saeed Hall’ and will be available to buy from the stands of Seagate’s strategic partners: Al Durra, Compume, E-City, Emax, Jackys, Jumbo, Plug-Ins, Prestigio Palace and Sharaf DG.

Speaking at the Backup Plus launch, Mark Whitby, Seagate’s Vice President for Sales and Marketing in EMEA, said, “Backing up needs to be an essential part of everyone’s digital life.”

“Nearly everything that is dear to us is now in a digital format; from tax documents, to emails, to family photos and video, many of these files cannot be recreated in the event of an accidental loss or system failure,” he added.

Looking to the future of the global storage industry, Whitby said that the digital world is changing quickly and dramatically. “With businesses and, especially, consumers and households creating, storing and sharing ever-greater amounts of data, the demand for storage is growing at nearly 40% per year.

The growth in mobile data and in the cloud environment is driving tremendous opportunities for storage providers like Seagate. And with these opportunities come challenges around how we will continue to develop our technology to provide more and more storage capacity to our customers.

Whitby said, “Seagate continues to invest heavily to extend its technical leadership to ensure that it is at the forefront of the industry and is in a position to bring innovative products and solutions to the market.”
