UAE Startup Launches Digital Ecosystem for Journalists

A Dubai-based incubator program for early stage startups has launched a social media management system for journalists and other media professionals.

Tech Backpack has been designed for the UAE media to seamlessly manage and distribute news threads from a number of social media outlets on a single screen. The tool was unveiled by i360accelator, an Innovation 360 project, who claim it is the first digital ecosystem of its kind in the region.

The improved visibility of emerging news stories is intended to save journalists’ time with writing and research, as well as indicating what types of stories are resonating with their readers.

Tech Backpack, scheduled to launch in August, was just one of several startups selected for participation in the first i360accelerator round.

“We designed the i360accelerator program to produce the most viable, investor-worthy startups. In addition to an innovative business idea, you need a strong team, an open mind and dedication,” said Kamal Hassan, founder of Innovation 360 and creator of i360accelerator.

Since their enrolment in the i360accelerator, the Tech Backpack team has designed, prototyped and validated the feasibility of their business model and an initial release of this productivity tool for the news industry.

Graduating from the i360accelerator is an endorsement to investors that the founders of Tech Backpack, Usman Naeem and Zulfiqar Ali Soomro, have a proven and tested technology and business formula, optimised for growth and sustainability.
