WeMENA, a project by the World Bank, Voyaj Inc. and YouNoodle is an exciting business model challenge that connects women entrepreneurs and innovators across the region. Through the challenge, WeMENA accelerates innovative solutions that will help eight cities across the MENA region build resilience and adapt to chronic stresses and shocks. Contestants in the challenge receive business training, guidance from mentors in the Silicon Valley and beyond, and the chance to compete for a share of $150,000 in cash awards.
For this round, WeMENA is looking for entrepreneurs whose ideas build resilience in one or more of the following cities: Beirut, Byblos, Ramallah, Amman, Cairo, Alexandria, Tunis, and Casablanca.
As the region continues its fast-paced urbanization, city residents will become increasingly more exposed to the adverse effects of climate change, and subject to social, economic, and financial stresses and shocks. In order to build more resilient cities capable of withstanding such hazards, they are looking for women entrepreneurs who are innovating in the following 9 categories: Agriculture & Food Security, Sustainable Energy & the Environment, Water & Sanitation, Urban Development, Governance & Civic Engagement, Healthcare & Disease Prevention, Technology, Fintech & Smart Cities, Economics & Society, and Disaster Risk Reduction.
By applying to the challenge, you could be among 200 women selected to join a closed network with mentors from Silicon Valley and around the world, training to accelerate your business. You will also have the chance to compete in the Grand Finale event in Casablanca, Morocco, for a share of $150,000 USD in cash awards.
WeMENA is currently looking for projects in Byblos, Beirut, Ramallah, Amman, Cairo, Alexandria, Tunis and Casablanca in the 9 chosen categories.
Interested competitors must show proof of ownership in the company they present (at least 20%), and apply here before January 17th, 2017.
